The remains of the Spitfire were excavated from the crash site at Occoches (near Doullens in France) in December 2005 by Pierre Ben and members of the Association Somme Aviation 39-45. The aircraft was then purchased by TCH owner Martin Phillips. Check out the fascinating history of the Spitfire here - Spitfire BS410 History

PILOT REUNITED WITH SPITFIRE AFTER 66 YEARS

RAF pilot Piotr Kuryllowicz was just 25 in 1943 when he had to bale out of his Mark 9 Spitfire plane in France. Thanks to TCH owner Martin Phillips, the Polish veteran was reunited with the Spitfire 66 years later!

THE SPITFIRE IN DEVELOPMENT

The Spitfire's development started out at Airframe Assemblies on the Isle of Wight, and then moved onto the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar to be completed.

NEARING COMPLETION

The Spitfire's powerplant was fully restored by the team and the aircraft painted in 315 Squadron colours, as the finishing touches of this meticulous development neared completion.

THE 1ST FLIGHT

After much patience and hard work, the BS410 finally took it's first flight in April 22, with Martin Phillips on board and the Spitfire looking fantastic. As you can see from the photos, the day was a big success!

UP, UP AND AWAY!
